Oswaldo Macià
El arte puramente visual ya no posee fuerza suficiente para Oswaldo Macià. Con vocación de pionero se dedica a olores y sonidos, a los que atribuye mayor autenticidad, adentrándose en un campo cultural completamente desatendido, en el que carecemos incluso del vocabulario más básico (en todos los idiomas).
En la Daros Latinamerica Collection está representado con dos composiciones sonoras: Something Going On Above my Head, una sinfonía para 4 x 500 voces de pájaros de cuatro continentes, y Vesper, una obra sonora elaborada a partir de la técnica de composición gregoriana, constituida por voces femeninas de la región lingüística y cultural del Caribe en alegre algarabía.
Tanto el trinar de los pájaros como las voces femeninas son un material sonoro que Macià somete a un proceso sinfónico. Las armonías chocan con cacofonías, lo concreto se convierte en algo abstracto y viceversa, lo específico compite con lo similar, el orden se vuelve caos y a la inversa. El artista pregunta si lo “natural” se diferencia de lo “cultural”, y en qué medida, comprendiendo la “lengua”, en tanto tonos y sonidos, como algo universal. Se ponen a prueba nuestras vivencias y percepciones sensoriales, de modo que repensamos nuestros hábitos auditivos y, al escuchar sus obras sonoras sinfónicas, nos hacemos la pregunta fundamental sobre el significado de los tonos y sonidos.
